Mixed Media, International School for Liberal Arts, Bronx, NY
Maria Narvaez is a Mixed Media Latina artist born in San Jose, Costa Rica and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She attended the International School for Liberal Arts at the Walton Campus in the Bronx, New York. Since moving to the Bronx in 2012, she has been exposed to an environment surrounded by disproportionate and discriminatory practices which have had a big impact on her work. Narvaez’s practice is defined by her sense of identity and focus on truth and equity around minority cultures. Through the Parsons Scholars Program and various art courses, these ideas have taken form through many mediums such as interior design, photography and illustration. Moving forward, Maria plans to become a marketing manager for a creative agency, allowing her to still keep in touch with her creativiEty while also utilizing her analytical skills.
